How NextGen works

NextGen is a collaborative work platform that brings teams, workspaces, and project data together in one place. Plan work in flexible frames, keep everyone aligned with real-time updates, and scale from a single team to broader organizational workflows.

What is NextGen?

NextGen helps organizations run structured work across workzones and frames. A frame is where your items, columns, and views live—so your team can track status, ownership, dates, files, and custom fields in a way that matches how you actually work.

The platform is designed for clarity: strong defaults, role-aware permissions, and layouts that work for both detailed list work and high-level visual planning.

Getting started

  1. Create an account and complete onboarding—team name, use case, and workspace setup guide you into a productive first experience.
  2. Join or create a workzone so your projects and frames sit in a dedicated space for your team or department.
  3. Open a frame to see groups of items with configurable columns (title, status, people, dates, tags, files, and more—depending on your setup).
  4. Invite collaborators so the right people can view or edit content according to their role on the frame.

Ways to work inside a frame

List view

A spreadsheet-style layout for scanning many items, sorting and filtering by column, and editing inline when you have permission. Ideal for operational tracking and bulk review.

Kanban view

Columns follow your status model so work moves visually across stages. Drag and drop when allowed, open items to edit details, and keep context on the frame without switching tools.

Personal views

Focus the frame on what matters to you—such as items by assignee or status—without changing how the rest of the team sees the master frame.

Collaboration and updates

  • Comments and mentions (at-tag teammates) on items keep discussion next to the work, similar to modern work-management tools.
  • Real-time updates help distributed teams see changes as they happen, so frames stay current without manual refresh in many flows.
  • Filters and search narrow large frames to the rows you need—by person, text, or column-specific rules.

Administration and access

Organizations that need centralized control can use the administration area to align with their governance model. Access to frames and admin features is governed by authentication and role checks, so users only see what they are allowed to manage.

Plans and billing

Subscription options support upgrading as your usage grows. Payment flows include success, failure, and cancellation paths so customers always get clear feedback during checkout.

Your first 10 minutes

A fast path from login to value. For a full walkthrough with prerequisites and governance notes, use the Getting started guide.

  2. Enter a workzone and open a frame Pick where your team’s frames live, then open a frame in list view.

  4. Filter, then invite a teammate Validate search and filters at scale, and invite the smallest appropriate role.

Security and data at a glance

Access is gated by authentication and role-based permissions. Administrative and billing actions are separate from normal frame editing, so you can align least privilege with how your organization governs SaaS tools.

Frequently asked questions

What is a workzone compared to a frame?

A workzone is a container for your team’s work—often aligned to a team or department. A frame is where the actual items, columns, and views live. You can have multiple frames inside a workzone.

Can I use NextGen on a phone or tablet?

The product is built as a modern web application and works in current desktop and mobile browsers. For heavy editing sessions, many teams still prefer a larger screen.

Do updates appear in real time?

Yes—many changes sync in real time so teammates see item updates, moves, and collaboration activity without constantly refreshing the page.

Who can manage billing and administration?

Billing and subscription flows are tied to authenticated accounts. Centralized administration features are available for users with the appropriate admin access, separate from day-to-day frame editing.

Is there a free tier?

You can get started without a credit card on the Free plan (see current plan details in the app). Paid tiers unlock more capacity and capabilities as you grow.

Can we export or move our data?

Export and portability depend on your plan and product capabilities. For specific formats and guarantees, refer to your subscription terms and any in-product export tools your team enables.

What do roles mean on a frame?

Roles define what someone can do—such as owning a frame, editing content, or participating as a member or collaborator. Exact names and permissions follow your workspace configuration.
